I’ve trained so hard for the @grancanariawindsurfworldcup and I really felt on top of my game. But life happens.. 😔

I’ve tried to push through the pain and sail when they sent us out on day 2 of the event and day 9 since I broke my 5th metatarsal. I think I ended up scaring the spectators, as I was screaming from pain while trying to ride waves 😅 I fought till the end trying to at least secure top 8. It was so scary to sail on that foot, I was weary of every move and in the end it turned out too difficult, but I wouldn’t be myself if I gave up without a fight. Hey, no great twist ever started with someone being rational 😉

Big thanks again to everyone who helped out and supported me in this crazy attempt - especially @daida_fisiomt who was there for me even on the Sunday to treat my foot and tape it up before the heat and coach @dr_windsurf for rigging all my gear and helping me in and out of the water 🙏

It has been a real emotional rollercoaster, with advice varying from ‘you need surgery now’ to ‘you can try to sail if you can handle the pain’. Last photo shows what my foot looked like right after the heat 👀

I took the risk and gave it my everything. It’s time to lean back, relax and let that poor foot recover properly. With the new format allowing to come back only to 9th place in the double elimination, I’m not missing out on a real come back opportunity anyway.
Last but not least congratulations to all the ladies for putting on a show.
