It was a really well organised event! Too bad nothing could be done about the seaweed! ;)
Sorry for a late update on the event but I was gone.. living! haha! Had some busy times lately ;)

We arrived to Tenerife already tired.. must be getting old;) First needed to pack all the gear from the Pozo beach and put it into the PWA container. Then pack ourselves and leave for the ferry with a completely overloaded car. Myself, Amanda Beenen, Kenneth Dannielsen and Christopher Friis shared a car and ferry costs. As far as ferry costs go.. the bastards from ARMAS charged us for a medium car (even though it was tiny) just because we had about 2 tons of boy's gear on the roof!;) I was trying to fight using my ..imperfect.. Spanish, but they still made us pay. Funny enough, after half an hour discussion it turn out we need to pay extra... 10euro! haha..

Anyway, enough of the details cos you will grow old reading this.
We arrive, all arrangements for the apartment failed.. so we end up without a place to stay! Apart from Sir Dannielsen who got free acomondation in Sheraton for doing good year before.. or maybe thanx to having blue blood;) Either way, Flow saved us with a phone number to Sandro that had an apartment just 100m from Cabezo beach! Sweeeet! Thanx for your help guys! So after 10hrs of walking around El Medano, we could shower and rest.. and have a well deserved beer! :)

First day sailing in El Medano.. sucked! I had to go out on 4,7 and it felt huge.. everything was going super slow.. after a while it was clear why - there was a massive amount of seaweed chilling just at the competition area.. you couldn't get speed to jump, you couldn't wave-ride as the fins were just stuck.. especially that i have a quad. This was completely different then sailing in Pozo where the lack of wind or speed is never the case. Anyway, same conditions for everyone. Second day practice was much better, I could already use 4.2 and I got some really nice waves and jumps, including few nice forwards that set me positive foo the next day event.

My heats in Tenerife were against Laure Treboux and Evi Tsape. Did good enough to loose both! haha! But all together did good, and was really happy with scoring a lot of points. And getting a buy!!! :D Tough draw but I had few nice waves and landed forwards in my heat. Went for pushloops but the rotation was super slow and I couldn't land any in Tenerife! Just couldn't get the speed there.. It was a funny feeling I must say as my hands were already swelling from the amount of wind I had in my sail, but the board was just stuck with the seaweed and was going super slow-mo. Very good sailing from Laure - she was ripping the waves - she even finished a perfect taca in one of her heats finishing 5th just infront of Evi Tsape. Not the worse 2 chicks to loose to! ;)

I was also caddying a lot it this event! Fist for Kenneth who decided to get his 13th place back and was storming through the heats one after another with me waiting on the shore to sail out with spare gear in case of emergency ;) Later I was a caddy for Evi Tsape - and here I had a real James Bond rescue! Evi sailed in just after one run of her heat - just on the reef in front of the judges, so I was speeding through the beach with her sail jumped into the water in my cloths, and we changed her sail! She won! (u owe me a beer Evi!:) The whole action was going live so I hope u stayed tooned! And I hope they put some dramatic soundtrack haha. It was really fast, perfect caddy performance - maybe I should re-consider my career path! haha..

Sick sailing from the locals, you can tell they know the spot. In the first final with Dani against Phillip whenever Dani went for a wave it was open till the end. Phillip found waves often closing just as he got on them. Saying that, unbelievable what this kid can do with just foam!! Dani won the first heat sailing unbelievable - he did one super slow motion double, sick wave 360, and sick everything! This guy even wipeouts with style! haha.. In the second final heat Phillip proved that he can handle the pressure, do planning doubles with low wind, and wave ride like a ^%R@^%!!!

Great finals from Moreno Twins as well, with Iballa winning first heat and Daida dominating the second one taking the victory one more time!

Oh!!! Super session! Super session was super fun! All the chicks sailing together, good waves, screaming and smiling on the water, all relaxed and going for it. I did a nice pushie attempt but didn't land it.. errrr... too bad as Evi took second with a pushie. 1st went to Iballa for one footed Backloop, and 3rd to Karin for destroying the wave!!! Well.. at least I went for it! properly. First super downwind to thro a high forward, even landed on my board but got my sail riped out of my hands.. then a close pushie, and then a super wipe out haha.. I went for the biggest wave I could find and said "f&ck it, I am doing Dani's style delayed cutback". Well I went for it.. was a bit too late though haha! Nice wipeout - all the way to the rocks! I landed some shitty small forwards, and got some ok waves but that wasn't enough. Again - next year! ;) The super session winners got to Surf in the swimming pool at Siam Park - good fun! Check out the pics at

I was lucky as most people crashed boards or lost fins, or ended up doing the "walk of shame".. I was sailing really close between the rocks coming out from the water, but was lucky to squeeze between them everytime. Ok, one time I landed on the rock with my knee.. but I apologized! Poor little rock had to be hit with a Polish knee! ha!

Other then sailing event was super nicely organized in time off competing! Thumbs up to the organizers really! We had trips to Siam Water Park, nice dinners together, really cool opening ceremony, golf trips etc etc. Think everyone was super happy about the event (even if they got their asses kicked!;).

I stayed few more days, scored one more session on the harbor wall - with 4,7 underpowered but just wave riding.. Actually it was so good that I stayed there for like 6hrs strait.. till the sun went down and the wind dropped to zero. Had to swim in (with people fishing over my head) and climb the harbor wall with my gear :P

All together it was a great event and good fun! Finished 9th so am 10 overall so far :)
Looking forward to go back to Tenerife next year!

If you made it till here - Congratulations! I though you would stop reading half way or so! haha
