Wow, what an awesome event it was! Check out some pictures and videos!

It was a great organised event this year. I, as always, had a hard draw in the single elimination, and after going thorugh my first heat I then met with number one lady in the world Daida Moreno. That made breaking through to the top 4 pretty much impossible:) I still sailed a decent heat though (and it was the only heat so far this year when I was actually a bit powered up despite being on my biggest sail - 4.7). I landed my first proper backloop in PWA in that heat and got only 0.25 less for it then Daida on her counting jump (also backloop), so that was an achivement for me haha.. well - gotta look at the brite side;) On the waves I got proper schooled though. I really need to spend more time in Tenerife as it was hard to find any wave out there for me. I still scored good in that heat anyway, just not enough to beat a 10 time world champion;) I finished 5th in the single, but that was all I could do, so was happy with that.

In the double elimination I messed up completely - just before my heat I was on my 69l and a 3.7 and it was finally windy! I was so exticed that i will finally get some conditions for a heat! Unfrotunitelly, just before the heat (like 2 min) the wind started dropping.. I wasn't sure how much it will drop but decided to go safe and change up to 4.2 and 75l.. turned out it wasn't enough! After getting a forward in on the first run I stopped planining completely for the rest of the heat.. 4.7 could have saved me, but I couldn't even make it upwind in time to change as the tide was super low. I still managed to squeeze some waverides in, but didn't feel like I had one proper hit in this heat. Alice was on the roll and sailed really good. She managed to find better waves and got me this time:) Well done to her, as it was tricky conditions out there. Still, I looked at my score sheets and realised that I scored really good again even though I really thought I sailed a shocker! I would go thorugh a lot of other heats in the double elimination with that score, so I wasn't completely gutted. I was dissapointd with my sail choice though, but that's the way it goes sometimes. I am really curious how I'd do if I get to sail a heat with waves and proper wind for once - my preferred conditions. Unfortunitely I didn't get that chance yet this year. Who knows - maybe we will get that in Sylt? Fingers crossed :)

All the other ladies, and we had 22 of them, sailed really good showing how much the standard of woman windsurfing improved (not just in the top of the fleet). In the double elimination apart from Daida and Iballa, Sarah Quita was a stand out for sure. Congrats to the top 3 ladies for impressive sailing! Super stoeked to see my Mystic team-mate SQ on the podium too. Well deserved after storming through the double all the way from the last place!

We also got an expression session, that unfortunitely was very last moment and not everyone was there on the beach to compete. In the end I managed to come first thanks to sticking 2 backloops and 3 forwards. I was dissapointed as I had a lot of other moves planned for the Expression session, however the wind droped and the bay was full of sea-weed, so it was super hard to get going. In second came Amanda Beenen with some big push-loops crashes, fallowed by Sarah Bibby in 3rd with a nice forward and a TT and young Nicole Bandini (only 15yrs old and already ripping in Cabezo!!) with some good forward attepmpts, with Lucy Robson in 5th. Looks like many more girls are keen for expression sessions next year, so I hope it will become a normality that if we run it for the man we should have it for the ladies as well. It's a great oportunity to promote ladies windsurfing and let us show what we are capable of, as we can't always allow ourselves to risk going for more dificult moves in the heats and/or don't get the conditions.

It turned out that the prize for the expression session is a tow-in session in Siam Park for top 10 guys and 1st Lady. I was super stoekd, although dissapointed that we couldn't get at least 3 ladies to have a go. Looks like this might change next year!:) Thanks to Bjorn Dunkerbeck for stepping up!

We had practice on Saturday night and it was heaps of fun! Massive thanks to all the guys helping me out and teaching me to tow-in (it was my first time). On Sunday the big show started, but I only got 2 runs in the warm up with the boys, before their competition started. It was quite stresfull with hundrets of people watching, but really exciting too. I managed to lunch myself of a wave (unfortunitely missing a footstrap haha) and was stoked with getting some air! I am sure with few more attempts I could get a hold of it better. I think it's even easier to get going for us ladies as we are smaller and the board doesn't sunk that much in the beginning.  Anyway, it was awesome fun and great to see the guys pulling off some sick moves. Ricardo Campello dominated and took the well deserved win.

Check out some videos and pictures from both outdoor and indoor events!:)
